Abstract

The article examines the history of preliminary hearings in criminal cases, the stages of their development, including the ancient (classical) period, the Middle Ages, and modern legal systems. It discusses the procedures and elements of conducting preliminary hearings at various stages of legal development, as well as the perspectives of scholars on this issue.
