Through the analysis of property of culture and proverb, it can be known that proverb can help one to understand culture. From the point of view of uncertainty-avoidance, it can be seen that in spite of the fact that most of the western countries and America are low-uncertainty-avoidance societies,they basically have distinctive life demeanors, since that Americans put more accentuation on competition. From the point of view of high-context and low-context, the content gives the concepts of non-verbal communication and two layers of meaning of quiet. And beneath this foundation, the paper analyzes a few culture designs, particularly America and Japan.
