INTERTEXTAL PROPERTIES AND EXPRESSIVE FUNCTIONS OF PHRASES IN ENGLISH AND UZBEKISTAN STORIES

This article provides an in-depth analysis of phraseological units — phrasemes — in English and Uzbek fiction stories in terms of intertextual connections and expressive demonstrative functions. Phrasemes enrich literary speech through their interrelationships, historical-cultural references, and ironic effects. Approaches to the issues of adequacy and the complexities that arise when trying to preserve their functions in translation are presented.
