Abstract

This article analyzes the linguistic and cultural usage of the cattle zoonym in English and Karakalpak proverbs. The presence of this zoonym in both languages is closely connected to the historical lifestyle, economic activities, and cultural values of the respective peoples. In Karakalpak proverbs, the image of cattle appears in a positive light — as a symbol of abundance, labor, and patience — while in English proverbs, it is often used metaphorically and ironically. The paper explores these differences through the lens of cultural context, revealing the national characteristics and worldview reflected in each language’s proverbial expressions
