Аннотация

Phonics-based instruction has been widely discussed as one of the most effective methods for teaching pronunciation in young English learners. This article examines the theoretical foundations, practical applications, and pedagogical benefits of phonics in elementary education. Drawing on established scholarly views, the paper explores how phonics instruction contributes to the development of phonological awareness, decoding skills, and pronunciation accuracy. Furthermore, it highlights both the strengths and limitations of phonics in relation to alternative approaches such as whole-language learning and communicative methods. By analyzing research findings and integrating examples from classroom practices, the article demonstrates that phonics-based instruction significantly improves learners’ ability to pronounce words accurately, particularly at the early stages of language acquisition.
