To'plam klassik mexanikaning asosiy tamoyillari, xususan, Nyuton qonunlari va Galileyning nisbiylik prinsipini tushuntiradi. Unda jismlarning harakat sabablari, inersiya, massa, kuch tushunchalari hamda inersial va noinersial sanoq sistemalari batafsil yoritilgan. Shuningdek, Aristotelning harakat haqidagi dastlabki qarashlari va ularning keyingi rivojlanish bosqichlari, xususan, Galiley va Nyutonning ishlari yordamida mexanikaning zamonaviy tushunchalari shakllanishi ko'rsatilgan.
