Abstract

This article provides a comparative analysis of the peculiarities of antonym usage in English and Uzbek languages. Theoretical interpretations, classifications, lexical-semantic fields, and stylistic functions of antonyms are examined based on linguistic sources. The common and distinctive features of antonyms in English and Uzbek are illustrated through examples from literature, proverbs, sayings, and contemporary speech.
