Abstract

More than 350 million people worldwide are infected with hepatitis viruses. Each year, millions of people are newly infected with viruses causing liver diseases, including hepatitis B and hepatitis C, leading to life-threatening conditions. Liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma are consequences of chronic hepatitis B and C infections.
