INTEGRATING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE INTO ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN UZBEKISTAN: CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into English Language Teaching (ELT) has the potential to transform pedagogical practices, enhance student engagement, and optimize assessment processes. However, in many higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, AI remains underutilized due to low AI literacy among faculty, minimal institutional support, and superficial pedagogical applications. This study examines the preparedness of ELT instructors in Uzbekistan to meaningfully integrate AI into instruction, assesses the scope and effectiveness of current professional development efforts, and explores the institutional and policy supports required for sustainable implementation.
