This article discusses the critical role of macro- and microelements in drinking water and their impact on dental health. Deficiency of essential minerals such as calcium, fluoride, magnesium and zinc can lead to a variety of dental diseases, including caries, enamel hypoplasia and periodontal disease. The article discusses preventative measures such as water fluoridation, mineral additions, and improved water treatment methods to eliminate deficiencies. In addition, it highlights the importance of water quality monitoring and public health interventions to ensure adequate intake of these essential elements through drinking water, especially in areas where deficiency is common. Implementation of these strategies can significantly reduce the incidence of dental disease associated with mineral deficiency.
