Разрывы мениска являются одним из наиболее частых заболеваний, поражающих коленный сустав у спортсменов и обычных людей. МРТ является первым методом визуализации коленного сустава, но в последние дни ультразвуковое исследование (УЗИ) добилось больших успехов в визуализации заболеваний опорно-двигательного аппарата благодаря улучшению качества визуализации. Это исследование было направлено на изучение роли УЗИ в диагностике разрывов менисков по сравнению с МРТ.
