Obstetric hemorrhages are among the top three causes of maternal death. At the same time, early postpartum hemorrhage occurring in the first 24 hours after birth accounts for a quarter of all maternal deaths worldwide. Changes in the blood coagulation system during pregnancy consist in a constant decrease in fibrinolytic activity and an increase in blood coagulation.
