DEVELOPMENT OF PRIMARY HYPOTHYROIDISM AFTER STRUMECTOMY IN WOMEN
Main Article Content
Abstract:
This article discusses the development of primary hypothyroidism in women following strumectomy. The main causes of hypothyroidism after thyroid gland removal include the loss of thyroid tissue, hormonal imbalance, and insufficient residual thyroid function. The article provides an overview of the clinical manifestations, such as fatigue, weight gain, depression, and cognitive impairment, which significantly affect the quality of life. Early diagnosis through hormonal screening (TSH, T3, and T4 levels) and imaging techniques is crucial for timely intervention. The primary treatment method is lifelong thyroid hormone replacement therapy, which helps restore metabolic functions and prevent complications. The article also emphasizes the importance of preventive measures, including regular postoperative monitoring and appropriate hormone therapy to maintain patient well-being and prevent severe complications.
