BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE SUBSTANCES IN SESAME AND THEIR MEDICINAL PROPERTIES

Main Article Content

Abstract:

This article provides an in-depth scientific analysis of the chemical composition of sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum L.), with a particular focus on their biologically active compounds and therapeutic properties. The study examines unsaturated fatty acids, lignans (sesamin, sesamolin, sesamol), vitamins, and mineral elements, highlighting their effects on metabolic processes, cardiovascular health, bone tissue, digestive function, and hormonal balance. In addition, the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties of sesame are substantiated based on relevant scientific literature. The findings demonstrate that the inclusion of sesame and sesame-derived products in a balanced diet plays a significant role in promoting human health and preventing chronic diseases.
