PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF LICORICE (GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA L.)

Main Article Content

Abstract:

Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) is a perennial medicinal plant with a rich phytochemical composition, including triterpenoid saponins, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds. These constituents provide a wide range of pharmacological effects: anti-inflammatory, expectorant, antioxidant, antimicrobial, gastroprotective, immunomodulatory, and endocrine activities. Modern preclinical and experimental studies confirm the efficacy of licorice in models of inflammatory diseases, bronchopulmonary disorders, gastric ulcer, and viral infections, as well as its ability to enhance the effects of other herbal preparations.
