PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING EFFECTS ON PEDIATRIC DIAGNOSTICS

This review examines the effects of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) on diagnostic and patient management skills in ambulatory pediatric education. It highlights PBL’s role in enhancing clinical reasoning, learner satisfaction, and decision-making abilities. Based on global studies, including randomized trials and meta-analyses, findings show that PBL improves diagnostic thinking and clinical confidence, though measurable performance gains vary. PBL promotes better patient management by simulating real-world interdisciplinary scenarios, which prepares trainees for complex outpatient care. It also fosters stronger critical thinking skills, especially when supported by digital tools and hybrid learning models. Learners generally report greater engagement and satisfaction compared to traditional methods. Although limited, existing evidence suggests PBL may also support teamwork and communication.

PARALINGUISTICS IN DIGITAL COMMUNICATION: EMOJIS, MEMES, AND VIRTUAL GESTURES

Paralinguistic features have long been recognized as fundamental in shaping the meaning of spoken interactions, as they supplement or even substitute verbal expressions. In the digital age, however, traditional nonverbal cues such as intonation, pitch, gesture, and facial expression are often absent due to the text-based nature of communication. As a result, internet users have developed new strategies to convey paralinguistic meanings through digital tools. This paper investigates the role of emojis, memes, and virtual gestures in digital communication, analyzing their functions, cultural significance, and impact on meaning-making. The study applies a discourse-analytical approach to samples of online interaction collected from social media platforms and messaging applications. Results suggest that emojis regulate emotional tone and provide context, memes act as multimodal cultural signifiers, and virtual gestures replicate aspects of embodied communication. Ultimately, these paralinguistic markers illustrate the evolution of human discourse toward hybrid, multimodal forms that blend visual, symbolic, and linguistic elements.

THE INFLUENCE OF LANGUAGE ON THE PERCEPTION OF THE WORLD

This article examines how language shapes perception and cognitive frameworks, and explores the implications of linguistic relativity for education in Uzbekistan. Drawing on classical theorizing (Sapir–Whorf), contemporary cognitive-linguistic research, and recent developments in Uzbekistan’s language policy and educational practice, the paper synthesizes evidence that language influences categories of attention, metaphorical framing, and pedagogical outcomes. A qualitative literature-review method was used to survey research on linguistic relativity, bilingualism, and national language reforms relevant to Uzbek schooling and higher education. Results indicate that (1) weak forms of linguistic relativity are supported by cross-linguistic studies, (2) bilingualism and medium-of-instruction choices (Uzbek, Russian, English) mediate perception and academic access, and (3) recent policy shifts in Uzbekistan — including acceleration of Latin-script adoption and expansion of English-medium instruction — have practical consequences for how new generations conceptualize knowledge domains. The discussion considers curricular, teacher-training, and assessment implications for Uzbek education and suggests directions for locally grounded research.
