HISTOMORPHOMETRIC EVALUATION OF LIVER LOBULES IN METABOLIC SYNDROME

Main Article Content

Аннотация:

The histomorphometric assessment of liver lobules in metabolic syndrome (MetS) involves the quantitative examination of liver tissue architecture, particularly in relation to metabolic abnormalities that predispose individuals to conditions such as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). As a central organ in metabolic homeostasis, the liver relies on the structural integrity of its lobules—units composed of hepatocytes arranged radially around central veins—to maintain optimal function. In people affected by MetS, which is typically associated with insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, characteristic histological changes such as steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis frequently develop within liver lobules and serve as indicators of disease progression.
