Abstract:
The article addresses modern principles of surgical treatment of malignant tumors of the maxillofacial region, emphasizing comprehensive and personalized approaches. Combined modality treatments – surgery combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy – are discussed as the foundation of a comprehensive approach. Personalized technologies are reviewed: use of sentinel lymph node biopsy, intraoperative navigation, CAD/CAM reconstruction of defects, targeted therapy and immunotherapy – which allow tailoring treatment to the tumor and patient characteristics. Algorithms for selecting the extent of surgery depending on tumor stage are provided, along with examples of innovative techniques (Mohs micrographic surgery, robot-assisted operations, etc.). The conclusion emphasizes the need for a multidisciplinary approach to improve outcomes and rehabilitation in this patient population.
