THE PROBLEM OF ARTISTIC THINKING BETWEEN REALISM AND ROMANTICISM (BASED ON RUSSIAN AND WORLD LITERATURE)

Abstract:

This article examines the problem of artistic thinking at the intersection of Realism and Romanticism using examples from Russian and world literature. It defines the philosophical and aesthetic foundations of both Realism and Romanticism, highlighting their differences as well as points of complementarity. Examples of creative synthesis between the two styles are provided through analyses of several authors (M. Y. Lermontov, V. Hugo, F. M. Dostoevsky, J. W. Goethe), illustrating how Romantic vision can blend with realistic depiction of reality. The conclusion is drawn that the tension between Romanticism and Realism played a significant role in literary development by enriching artistic methods and deepening the exploration of human nature.
