METAPHORICAL FUNCTIONS OF NATURAL SCIENCE TERMINOLOGY IN PUBLICISTIC DISCOURSE
Main Article Content
Аннотация:
This study investigates the metaphorical adaptation of natural and exact science terminology in publicistic discourse, focusing on how journalists creatively employ scientific concepts to describe social, political, and cultural phenomena. Scientific terms, originally used in precise and technical contexts, are frequently transformed into metaphors in journalistic writing. This process enriches texts with vivid imagery, clarifies complex ideas, and enhances persuasive impact. By analyzing contemporary Uzbek journalistic materials, the study identifies patterns of metaphorical usage, explores their cognitive and stylistic functions, and highlights the interplay between language, scientific knowledge, and public communication. The research demonstrates the significant role of scientific metaphors in making journalism both informative and expressive, reflecting broader societal engagement with science and linguistic creativity.
