This article explores the transformative effects of digital communication on vocabulary changes in the 21st century. It examines how new linguistic trends, including abbreviations, emojis, and internet slang, have emerged in response to technological advancements and changing communication practices. Through a qualitative analysis of social media interactions, surveys, and existing literature, the study highlights the widespread adoption of new terms like "FOMO," "YOLO," and the increasing use of emojis to express emotional tone in digital conversations. The article also addresses the potential implications of these changes for formal communication, discussing both the positive aspects of language evolution and concerns over the erosion of traditional language skills. The findings suggest that while digital communication has democratized language and made it more expressive, it also raises questions about the future of formal language use.
