THE PHENOMENON OF SYNONYMY IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH
Main Article Content
Аннотация:
Synonymy is one of the most significant lexical-semantic phenomena in linguistics. It refers to the existence of two or more words with similar or identical meanings within a given language. Synonymy plays an essential role in enriching the vocabulary of a language, enhancing stylistic diversity, and allowing speakers to express subtle shades of meaning. The study of synonymy is particularly important in comparative linguistics because it highlights both universal and language-specific features. This paper aims to analyze the phenomenon of synonymy in Uzbek and English, providing theoretical foundations, examples, and a comparative perspective.
