WAYS TO CHECK READING COMPREHENSION

This article examines various methods for assessing reading comprehension in educational settings. It provides an overview of traditional and contemporary techniques used to evaluate students’ understanding of written texts. The article explains key approaches such as questioning, summarization, retelling, cloze tests, multiple-choice items, graphic organizers, think-aloud strategies, and performance-based tasks. Each method is discussed in terms of its purpose, procedures, and pedagogical benefits. The article concludes that using a combination of diverse assessment techniques ensures a more accurate and holistic measurement of learners’ comprehension skills.
