This article examines the phonetic and phonological characteristics of speech sounds in the English language and analyzes their significance in accurate and effective pronunciation. The study provides a detailed discussion of vowel and consonant sounds, their articulatory features, and their role in conveying meaning in oral communication. Particular attention is paid to phonetic transcription, word stress, and intonation as essential components of intelligible speech. In addition, the article proposes methodological approaches to developing pronunciation competence at the master’s level, emphasizing the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical training. The research is intended for scholars, graduate students, and educators working in the fields of linguistics, phonetics, and foreign language teaching methodology.
