THE ROLE OF TASK-BASED LEARNING (TBL) IN DEVELOPING COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE

This article explores the effectiveness of Task-Based Learning (TBL) in developing learners’ communicative competence in English. It examines how real-life tasks promote meaningful interaction, enhance fluency, and encourage learners to use language purposefully rather than mechanically. The article highlights key features of TBL, including authentic tasks, learner-centered instruction, and focus on meaning before form. It also discusses the teacher’s role in designing tasks and facilitating communication. Finally, the article evaluates the benefits of TBL for improving speaking, listening, and overall communication skills in diverse classroom contexts.
