THE INTERPLAY OF FORMAL LETTERS, INTERPERSONAL DYNAMICS, AND SOCIETAL VALUES IN EPISTOLARY PROSE
Main Article Content
Аннотация:
This article explores the role of formal letters in epistolary prose and examines how they reflect interpersonal relationships and broader societal values. Although letters may appear to be simple written exchanges, in literary prose they often serve as a powerful narrative device that reveals the emotional states of characters, their social positions, and the cultural norms of the society in which they live. The research particularly emphasizes the interaction between language formality, social hierarchy, and interpersonal dynamics expressed through letters. In many literary works, formal letters reveal respect, distance, authority, or emotional restraint between characters, while at the same time reflecting social conventions, etiquette, and moral values of a given historical period. By examining stylistic features, narrative functions, and cultural contexts of epistolary prose, the article demonstrates how written correspondence becomes a medium through which personal and social identities are constructed and interpreted.
