Mazkur tadqiqot axborotlashgan jamiyat sharoitida kutubxonalarning raqamli muhitga moslashuv jarayonlarini kompleks ilmiy tahlil qilishga bag‘ishlangan. Tadqiqotning asosiy maqsadi zamonaviy kutubxonalarning an’anaviy faoliyatdan raqamli xizmatlar tizimiga o‘tish mexanizmlarini aniqlash hamda ularning barqaror va samarali moslashuv modelini ishlab chiqishdan iborat. Taklif etilayotgan model kutubxonalarning axborot-resurs markazi sifatidagi asosiy funksiyalarini saqlagan holda, foydalanuvchilarning o‘zgarib borayotgan axborot ehtiyojlariga moslashuvini ta’minlashga yo‘naltirilgan. Tadqiqotda tizimli yondashuv, qiyosiy-tahliliy metod, ilmiy manbalarni kontent-tahlil qilish hamda xorijiy va milliy kutubxonalar faoliyatining ilg‘or tajribalarini o‘rganish metodlaridan foydalanildi.
