RISK FACTORS FOR PERI-IMPLANTITIS IN DIABETIC PATIENTS
Main Article Content
Аннотация:
Peri-implantitis is a pathological inflammatory condition that affects the soft and hard tissues surrounding dental implants, characterized by infection of the peri-implant mucosa and progressive bone loss when left untreated. This disease poses particular concern in diabetic patients, a demographic that represents a substantial proportion of individuals requiring dental implants due to tooth loss and edentulism. Diabetes mellitus—especially poorly controlled type 2 diabetes—has a well-documented negative impact on wound healing and immune function, thereby increasing susceptibility to peri-implant infections.
