EPIC CHRONOTOPE AND THE ARTIST FIGURE: W. SOMERSET MAUGHAM’S “THE MOON AND SIXPENCE”

Main Article Content

Abstract:

The article examines how W. Somerset Maugham’s The Moon and Sixpence stages the artist figure within an epic chronotope. The protagonist’s London–Paris–Tahiti journey frames a conflict between artistic vocation and social obligation. An ironic narrative stance sustains epic scale without romanticizing the hero.
