TEACHING ENGLISH THROUGH GAME-BASED LEARNING METHODS

This article explores the pedagogical effectiveness of game-based learning (GBL) in teaching English to learners of different ages. It examines how games enhance vocabulary retention, grammar acquisition, pronunciation, listening comprehension, speaking fluency, and communicative competence. The article discusses theoretical foundations of GBL, including constructivist theory, socio-cultural theory, and motivation theory. It classifies different types of classroom games, both physical and digital, and outlines strategies for their effective implementation. Challenges such as classroom management, preparation time, and technological limitations are discussed along with suggested solutions. The article concludes that GBL is a dynamic and interactive method that improves language learning while fostering motivation, social skills, and learner autonomy.
