NOT JUST ACIDITY: UNDERSTANDING STOMACH ULCERS
Main Article Content
Аннотация:
Stomach ulcers, clinically referred to as gastric ulcers, represent a multifactorial gastrointestinal disorder rather than a condition caused solely by excessive gastric acid. Contemporary medical research has demonstrated that mucosal defense impairment, Helicobacter pylori infection, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use, and microcirculatory dysfunction play decisive roles in ulcer pathogenesis. This thesis aims to analyze the etiology, pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnostic approaches, and clinical outcomes of stomach ulcers using evidence-based medical literature. Emphasis is placed on understanding gastric ulcers as a result of disrupted equilibrium between aggressive factors and protective mechanisms of the gastric mucosa. The study highlights the necessity of an integrated diagnostic and therapeutic strategy beyond acid suppression alone.
