CURRENT CHALLENGES AND INNOVATIVE APPROACHES IN TEACHING HISTORY IN THE 21st CENTURY

Abstract:
This article analyzes the contemporary challenges of teaching history in the 21st century, along with innovative pedagogical strategies for addressing them. In an era of rapid globalization, digital transformation, and the rise of artificial intelligence, students’ interests and cognitive demands are evolving significantly. Consequently, the history teacher’s role is expanding beyond knowledge transmission to fostering historical and critical thinking, as well as strengthening civic and national identity. The article explores the theoretical foundations of modern history education, the use of digital pedagogy, gamification and interactive approaches, and international perspectives on effective teaching strategies.
