SEMANTIC PROPERTIES OF SCRIPTONYMS IN ADVERTISING AND THE MEDIA
This article analyzes the linguosemantic and functional features of scriptonyms utilized in advertising and mass media (MM). Scriptonyms are studied as an active component of modern communication. The research proves that the semantic effectiveness of a scriptonym is directly linked to its cognitive clarity (the ability to rapidly decode its lexical, phonetic, and morphological basis). It is demonstrated that names rooted in familiar lexical and productive morphemic patterns are more quickly assimilated by the consumer, while artificial neologisms that do not align with the language system lead to a phenomenon of cognitive mismatch. The article also examines the socio-communicative functions of scriptonyms, such as identification, integration, control, and mnemonics, and analyzes their three primary manifestations in the advertising space (logos, banner captions, and abbreviations).

SOCIAL MEDIA AND DEEP VS. SURFACE READING: EVIDENCE FROM UZBEK EFL LEARNERS
This study looks at how social media influences deep and superficial reading habits among Uzbek EFL students. Using survey data from 120 university students and interviews with ten individuals, the study investigates how fast-paced digital settings affect attention, reading stamina, and understanding. The findings show that regular exposure to short-form content, notifications, and compulsive scrolling impairs students' capacity to sustain focus on long English texts, leading to greater surface-level processing. At the same time, social media allows users to discover new reading materials and engage with English informally.
