This article distinguishes official forgery from other related crimes in accordance with domestic legislation, pays attention to certain shortcomings and prerequisites regarding the qualification of official forgery, and establishes that further improvement of criminal liability for official forgery is required. As a result, it was found that official forgery can act as a method for certain types of crimes; domestic legislation regarding official forgery was also examined in comparison with the legislation of the CIS countries.
