EFFECT OF OZONE THERAPY ON LABORATORY PARAMETERS, HEMOSTASIS SYSTEM, AND C-REACTIVE PROTEIN LEVELS IN PREGNANT WOMEN WITH INFECTIOUS-INFLAMMATORY PLACENTAL DYSFUNCTION

Placental dysfunction of infectious-inflammatory origin is one of the most significant causes of complicated pregnancy, as it is associated with impaired uteroplacental and fetoplacental circulation, altered metabolic activity of the placenta, and an increased risk of adverse perinatal outcomes. Chronic inflammatory processes underlying this condition contribute to the development of systemic disorders affecting both the general condition of the pregnant woman and the functional state of the fetoplacental complex.

СLINICAL AND LABORATORY EVALUATION OF OZONE THERAPY IN PREGNANT WOMEN WITH INFECTIOUS-INFLAMMATORY PLACENTAL DYSFUNCTION

Infectious-inflammatory placental dysfunction is one of the leading causes of complicated pregnancy, associated with impaired microcirculation, activation of systemic inflammatory response, and disturbances in the hemostatic system. These changes are reflected in laboratory abnormalities, including anemia, inflammatory markers, and hypercoagulation, which indicate the severity of the pathological process and dysfunction of the mother–placenta–fetus system. Standard treatment approaches do not always ensure sufficient correction of these disorders, which necessitates the search for more effective therapeutic strategies. Ozone therapy is considered a promising adjunct due to its anti-inflammatory, antihypoxic, and rheological effects.

MECHANISMS OF FETOPLACENTAL ADAPTATION IN CASES OF PRETERM DELIVERY

Preterm birth, defined as delivery before 37 weeks of gestation, remains a major contributor to neonatal morbidity and mortality, as well as long-term health complications among surviving infants. Children born prematurely are at higher risk of developing respiratory and gastrointestinal disorders, neurological impairments, and delays in both physical growth and cognitive development. Nevertheless, timely medical intervention and appropriate neonatal care can considerably improve outcomes in this vulnerable group. The compensatory and adaptive responses of the fetoplacental system in preterm birth represent a set of structural and functional adjustments aimed at sustaining fetal viability when pregnancy ends earlier than expected. These processes involve modifications in placental morphology and function, as well as alterations in fetal metabolic activity. Placental dysfunction, often referred to as placental insufficiency, is closely linked with several obstetric complications, including pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction, both of which increase the likelihood of preterm labor—a leading global cause of perinatal morbidity and mortality. Although the term “placental insufficiency” is widely used in clinical practice, the lack of a standardized definition and universally accepted diagnostic criteria complicates its interpretation and clinical application.
