ASSESSMENT OF TECHNOGENIC IMPACTS ON SLOPE DEFORMATION IN LARGE-SCALE COPPER MINING: A CASE STUDY OF THE KALMAKIR OPEN-PIT MINE

Anthropogenic (technogenic) factors such as blasting, excavation sequencing, equipment-induced vibrations, and poorly designed drainage systems significantly influence pit slope deformation in large-scale open-pit mining operations. This study presents a detailed investigation of these influences at the Kalmakir copper mine in Uzbekistan. Using field data, geotechnical instrumentation, and Finite Element Modeling (FEM) via PLAXIS 2D, the stress redistribution and displacement patterns under various mining activities were analyzed. The results indicate that uncontrolled blasting and excavation without proper phasing contribute most to instability. Recommendations include optimized blast timing, vibration monitoring, phased excavation, and reinforcement strategies.

THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO LEARN ENGLISH THROUGH MOVIES AND CARTOONS

This article explores the effectiveness of using movies and cartoons as tools for enhancing English language acquisition, particularly in ESL and EFL contexts. Grounded in cognitive and socio-cultural theories of language learning, the study demonstrates how audio-visual media provide rich, authentic input that supports vocabulary development, listening comprehension, pronunciation, and cultural competence. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis of learner responses and performance, the research finds that learners exposed to curated films and animated content over a 10-week period showed significant improvement in listening skills (by 32%), vocabulary retention (by 27%), and pronunciation accuracy (by 21%) compared to those receiving traditional instruction. The use of contextualized language, emotional engagement, and visual reinforcement in movies and cartoons makes them highly effective for immersive learning. The article concludes by offering practical strategies for integrating this approach into classroom teaching and independent study routines.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION OF INDIVIDUAL ORAL HYGIENE EFFECTIVENESS IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Orthodontic treatment introduces mechanical challenges in the oral cavity that can hinder effective plaque control and increase the risk of gingival inflammation and enamel demineralization. This theoretical review examines the development and assessment of individualized oral hygiene measures tailored for orthodontic patients. Evidence-based strategies, including modified brushing techniques, interdental cleaning tools, fluoride supplementation, dietary guidance, and behavioral interventions, are discussed. The review highlights the importance of patient-specific protocols, continuous evaluation, and professional reinforcement to optimize oral health outcomes during orthodontic therapy. The findings provide a conceptual framework for designing effective, individualized hygiene programs.

SEMANTIC AND PRAGMATIC ROLES OF REPETITION IN EVERYDAY SPEECH: A PILOT STUDY IN FERGANA REGION

This study investigates the dual roles of repetition in ordinary spoken discourse by focusing on both its semantic and pragmatic dimensions. Grounded in current linguistic theorising, it examines how speakers in natural everyday interactions deploy repetition to serve meaning-relations (semantics) as well as interactional or contextual functions (pragmatics). A small empirical investigation was conducted in the city of Kokand in the Fergana Region of Uzbekistan, during which 20 informal conversational exchanges among native Uzbek speakers were audio-recorded, transcribed and analysed. The analysis identifies several recurrent patterns of repetition: lexical repetition (the same word or phrase repeated), phrasal repetition (a clause or segment reiterated), and echo-repetition (respondent repeats interlocutor’s phrase). Semantically, repetition often contributes to emphasis, clarification or lexical anchoring, while pragmatically it supports turn-taking, interactional repair, discourse cohesion and conversational alignment. For example, speakers frequently repeat a key noun phrase to signal contrast or to maintain topic continuity, and they echo partner’s utterance to confirm understanding or to invite elaboration. The findings suggest that repetition is not merely a redundant feature of informal speech, but a functional device combining semantic reinforcement and pragmatic coordination. Implications are drawn for teaching conversational skills in Uzbek and for further cross-linguistic comparison of repetition’s functional load in everyday talk.
