This article explores the anthroponyms of the Uzbek and Chinese peoples from a cultural-ethnographic perspective. It highlights how naming traditions reflect social structures, beliefs, customs, and historical developments in each culture. The study examines naming ceremonies, the influence of religion and superstition on name selection, the role of family and clan in naming practices, and the evolution of personal naming systems. By comparing Uzbek and Chinese naming customs – from protective names intended to safeguard children to the Chinese practice of multiple names throughout life – the paper reveals both unique cultural specifics and shared human concerns embodied in personal names.

This article deals with proper names and their meaning, which became the field, where the most heated debates originate and in which specialist on linguistic and logic take place. The world of proper names is enormous. The problem of proper names is complicated and unsolved yet, linguists are interested in entity of proper names, its status, history, origin, their life in society and connection between a name and a human. Anthroponymy is investigated not only by linguists, but also other specialists, for instance by ethnographers, who study folks as communities with a distinctive culture. The issue of existence or absence of lexical meaning and   three concepts of proper names are considered in this article. Additionally, four components in the meaning of proper names are analyzed.

The article provides a synchronic (modern) analysis of anthroponyms in onomastics, the most important branch of linguistics, based on convincing evidence of its stages of development in English people.

In any culture, a person's name serves as a socio-cultural sign. The system of names, which has a long history, bears the traces of nationality of the people. Anthroponyms have a clear national and cultural significance, as they ensure the preservation of not only linguistic but also historical and cultural information. Anthroponymy is considered as a tool to reflect the national culture of the whole population.
