This thesis discusses why customs, traditions, and festivals remain important in people’s lives. It explains how traditions develop from history, religion, and culture, and how they change over time through social and global influence. Using examples like Japan’s Obon, Mexico’s Día de los Muertos, India’s Diwali, and African festivals, the work shows how these celebrations keep cultural identity alive and bring communities together. The thesis also highlights the emotional, social, and economic benefits of festivals, such as creating happiness, reducing stress, and supporting tourism. In a globalized world, it emphasizes the need to protect and respect cultural practices. Overall, the study argues that customs and festivals are essential for preserving identity, unity, and cultural diversity.

The article examines the traditions of adolescent upbringing through the lens of socio-pedagogical trends and the influence of family life. The main focus is on the evolving approaches in the educational process, including the shift from authoritarian methods to more democratic and partnership-based strategies. The roles of the family and educational institutions in shaping the personality of adolescents are analyzed, along with their interaction in the upbringing process. The article also highlights modern challenges related to technological development and their impact on adolescent upbringing, such as internet addiction and digital security issues. Emphasis is placed on the importance of cultural and educational activities as a means of developing adolescents’ creative abilities and fostering respect for traditions and culture. The conclusion confirms that effective cooperation among the family, school, and other socio-pedagogical structures creates favorable conditions for the successful socialization of adolescents in contemporary society.

THE ROLE OF ORAL FOLK TRADITION IN THE FORMATION OF BERDAQ'S POETIC HERITAGE

This paper explores the profound impact of oral folk tradition on the poetic works of the Karakalpak poet Berdimurat Qoblanov, widely known as Berdaq (1827–1900). His poetry serves as a bridge between oral and written traditions, reflecting a deep connection to folk songs, proverbs, and legends. Through a detailed analysis of his poetic style, this study examines how Berdaq preserved and revitalized national identity, ensuring that traditional motifs remained relevant in modern literary discourse. Moreover, the research highlights how Berdaq’s adaptation of oral elements contributed to the longevity and evolution of Karakalpak literature, influencing subsequent generations of poets. By incorporating new scholarly perspectives, this paper sheds light on the cultural and artistic significance of Berdaq’s poetry in the broader context of Central Asian literary traditions.

In this article, the lexicographic analysis of lexical units representing traditions in linguistics is studied. Customs and traditions are an important part of the language, through which the culture, history and social values ​​of the people are reflected. In the article, these lexical units are analyzed on the basis of various dictionaries, in particular, explanatory, comparative and ethnolinguistic dictionaries, and their scope of meaning and possibilities of use are studied. In the course of the study, attention was paid to the lexical and semantic features of the lexical units representing tradition, and it was shown that they are inextricably linked with the socio-cultural heritage of the people.

TRACES OF ANGLO-SAXON LITERARY TRADITION IN MIDDLE ENGLISH LITERATURE

The continuity of Anglo-Saxon literary traditions in Middle English literature is examined in this article, with particular attention paid to thematic, linguistic, and stylistic characteristics that remained prevalent following the Norman Conquest in 1066. Many aspects of Anglo-Saxon culture, including Christian symbolism, alliteration, moral education, and heroism, persisted in English writing despite the influence of Norman French and Latin. The study shows how Middle English writers modified early English principles to fit new social and theological circumstances by analyzing classic works like Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Piers Plowman, and Beowulf. The study comes to the conclusion that Anglo-Saxon principles were not only passed down but also polished into a combination of indigenous and continental traditions in Middle English literature.

PROVERBS AND RIDDLES IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES AS REFLECTION OF CULTURAL VALUES, BELIEFS AND TRADITIONS

Riddles and proverbs are important components of a culture's oral tradition that encapsulate wisdom, values, and beliefs. This article explores how riddles and proverbs in English and Uzbek languages reflect and reinforce their respective cultural values and traditions. A comparative analysis was conducted on a sample of 50 English and 50 Uzbek riddles and proverbs. Themes related to cultural values were identified and the frequency of each theme was tabulated. The results show that while there are some common themes between the two languages, such as the importance of wisdom, hard work, and honesty, there are also notable differences that reflect the unique cultural contexts. English riddles and proverbs tended to emphasize individualism and self-reliance, while Uzbek ones focused more on communal ties and respect for elders. The insights from this study can enhance cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of the rich cultural heritage embedded in these linguistic forms

PEACE DIPLOMACY IN INTERNATIONAL AND ISLAMIC LAW: ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE EXPERIENCE OF UZBEKISTAN

This article explores the concept and practice of peace diplomacy through the dual lenses of International law and Islamic law, focusing particularly on the experience of Uzbekistan. Both International and Islamic legal traditions regard peace as a fundamental objective of human coexistence and interstate relations. While International law institutionalizes peace through mechanisms such as the United Nations Charter, Islamic law embeds peace within its spiritual, moral and juridical framework. Uzbekistan, as a Muslim-majority state and an active participant in the international community, demonstrates a unique synthesis of these traditions through its proactive peace-oriented diplomacy, mediation initiatives and commitment to regional stability. The study concludes that Uzbekistan’s peace diplomacy exemplifies the compatibility of Islamic legal principles with modern international norms.

THE EVOLUTION OF LEXEME CODIFICATION AND DICTIONARY-MAKING

This article examines the historical development, theoretical foundations, and practical significance of lexemes within the context of dictionary-making traditions from ancient civilizations to modern times. By analyzing the epistemological and semiological aspects of lexemes, the study affirms their central role as the primary naming and meaning-bearing units in any language. The research traces the progression of lexicographic traditions from early inscriptions on stone and animal hides, through Arabic, Persian, and Turkic classical dictionaries, to European lexicographic standardization following the invention of the printing press. Special attention is given to the influence of European lexicographic methods on Russian, Turkish, and Uzbek dictionary-making, particularly in the 20th century during script reforms. The article concludes that national explanatory dictionaries are essential for standardizing the orthographic, semantic, and grammatical norms of lexemes, thus serving as vital instruments in language planning and preservation.

Academic writing requires more than grammatical accuracy; it demands clarity, logical organization, and effective textual connectivity. Coherence and cohesion play central roles in achieving these qualities, as coherence ensures the logical flow of ideas, while cohesion provides linguistic devices that link sentences and paragraphs. This article examines the theoretical foundations of coherence and cohesion, analyzes their pedagogical importance, and discusses practical strategies for teaching them in academic contexts. It further highlights the challenges teachers face, including cultural differences in rhetorical traditions, overuse of cohesive markers, and curriculum constraints. The paper explores how both traditions present moral and spiritual journeys, specifically their representations of the descent into hell, while also analyzing the broader societal reflections these works offer. Additionally, the study compares the treatment of Heaven and Hell in Uzbek proverbs and English aphorisms, highlighting how these cultural expressions mirror attitudes towards morality, justice, and the afterlife. The article comprehensively explores the theoretical and methodological foundations of preserving and developing national instrumental performance traditions within the digital learning environment. It analyzes the digital transformation of national musical heritage, issues of maintaining cultural identity, the role of digital archives and virtual laboratories, as well as the integration of interactive teaching systems. The study also examines the application of UNESCO’s “Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Digital Contexts” principles to music education. The research demonstrates how the traditional “master–apprentice” model can be effectively integrated with digital education methods in teaching national musical instruments.
